Once an airy workspace, this corner unit in Santee Village’s historic Textile Building offers original industrial features with breathtaking views. From curbside to inside this renovated storybook residence in Silver Lake reads like a modern fairytale. As Arrol Gellner, historian, architect , and author of Storybook Style: America’s Whimsical Homes of the Twenties , highlights, storybook-style dwellings typically include features reminiscent of medieval times. But interior designer, Kathryn McCollough of Lever , decided to give the home a pared-down, modern aesthetic while keeping the charm. The pages of this fairytale begin with the two-story home opening to a living room anchored by a wood-burning fireplace and natural light pouring in through a palladian fanlight window. From the living room, you step up into a spacious dining room that floats into the kitchen.
